I cannot possibly relate to what life must have been like for Helen Keller.

Her courage and tenacity must have been so far beyond me it is humbling for me to consider it.

Everyday, as part of my reading in the morning, in addition to the Bible, and my personal development books, I read a series of affirmations that are written on index cards. Many are quotes from scripture, but a few are like the one I am going to share here from Helen Keller.

This is a short quote but it is very long on lessons. As you read this reflect on the actions you take in your life. Consider what you allow to limit you and what the price of that is. Think about how exhilarating it feels to take bold steps and how you feel when you neglect to be bold. We all have been engendered with a misplaced sense of security that creates boundaries which can keep us from so much of what life can hold for us.We need to constantly take a mental sledge hammer to these boundaries. I hope these words from Helen Keller help you break some walls.

“Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.”
