It wasn’t too long ago that I was instructing at a leadership conference and I was speaking with a very nice and humble young man. He was at the event without his wife who was 7 months pregnant with their first child, so they did not feel safe with her traveling. On his next birthday he will be 28 years old.
I guess he was not limited by this thinking.
He started his business 5 and a half years ago at the age of 23. Now he earns more than twice the money that he and his wife and his soon to come child need to live comfortably. He was looking forward to the baby of course, and I think he is fully conscious of how wonderful his situation is. When the baby is born he plans to simply hang out with his wife and child for 3 months. He won’t travel or work proactively, he will just field support calls and stay in touch with his organization from home.
He didn’t realize that he was too young to be successful.
Many people think that they are too young at 23 to build a business…I guess he was not limited by this thinking. He didn’t realize that he was too young to be successful (Which of course meant he wasn’t!). What a great thing for a young couple with their entire family life together to be able to spend so much quality time in what matters…and you know what? Any young person can do it. The world doesn’t care what our age is, it only wants to know if we have something that can help! The world responds to whoever works diligently in a nice and honest way over a period of time, provided they have something to offer of value. Regardless of age, you will work on into the future…why not work at something that can lead to the life you want?
