You never hear people complain about having too much fun.

I love to have fun and I am sure you do too. I personally try to have fun as much as possible. At any given moment if you are in my house during the day, you can hear me cackling as I talk to someone on the phone. This is when I am “working.”

Human beings are creatures of habit. Og Mandino said “when an act becomes easy through constant repetition it becomes a pleasure to perform and if it is a pleasure to perform it is man’s nature to perform it often. When I perform it often it becomes a habit.”

One of the reasons I teach and stress “The Process” is because if you do the process exactly as I teach it, you will enjoy it. If you enjoy it, you will do it more. If you do it more you will move closer to your goals because you will be helping many people and you will be having fun. I think people have this notion that “work” can’t be fun. I believe it is something that is subtley pressed into us as we grow up to the point that we are supposed to look at work as this separate aspect of our life that is all about anything BUT fun.

if you aren’t having fun in your job…I suggest a new job!!!

Certainly not all of work is or can be fun all the time. There should be times of struggle, times of difficulty, frustration, and times when you are stretched to what you think are your limits both physically and emotionally (of course what you think is your limit isn’t even close to your true limit!)…but it should also be fun more often than not! As a matter of fact, if you aren’t having fun in your job…I suggest a new job!!! Life is too short. No amount of money is worth spending 20% of your life in misery.

Having someone thank you because their life has changed for the better…REALLY REALLY FUN.

But I am not talking about your job here…that is a means to an end, unless it is your true passion. I am talking about your business. This should be fun. And if you work the process the way I teach it then it will be fun and it will be fun more often than not. Engaging in pleasant conversation where your goal is to help someone else? FUN. Having someone thank you for sharing? FUN. Having someone thank you because their life has changed for the better…REALLY REALLY FUN.

My value system around business is steeped in helping others. It is what drives me(but I am no saint, certainly I have needs too, so it has to be fruitful) and gives me joy…but there is also alot of choices to help people with. I vowed several years ago, that if I don’t enjoy it I am not doing it…and as a result I turn down many many opportunities to do seminars or consult or be involved with projects, because they are not in line with my passion, my mission, and less in line with my values than what I am currently doing….and for me this would mean less fun!
Work the process the right way, focus on helping others…and HAVE FUN…it’s okay…really:-)
