I will Persist Until I Succeed.
It just so happens that the chapter I am reading this month from Og Mandino’s Greatest Salesman is centered around these six words.
How appropriate is that for beginning a new year? I read a chapter from this book daily. I read one for thirty days and then the next month I go to the next one. If I was planning the best chapter to kick off a year of pursuing goals…this would be the one…so I am happy with this serendipity.
In all of your pursuits, persistence is vital. It is one of a handful of success ingredients that is essential. No success of value can happen without this. Because any goal worth pursuing is going to have challenges, both in the actual pursuit itself, and in your own self. You will have times when you are fatugued or when you have hit a wall. You will have times when other aspects of your life divert your energy. Those who achieve significant goals persist through these times. No exceptions.
I have never been a quick study or a fast starter. But I have learned to persist until I get where I want to go or learn what I want to learn. And you can to.
Remember that great thinsg are accomplished by an accumulation of small steps repeated. Here is a a passage from the book that is worth copying and putting in front of you:
“I will be liken to the rain drop which washes away a mountain; the ant who devours a tiger; the star which brightens the earth…I will build my castle one brick at a time for I know that small attempts, repeated, will complete any undertaking.”
Persist.
And you WILL win.
