What makes you want to get up in the morning?

And the answer can’t be “the alarm clock” or “I have to go to work” or “I have feed th children” or any other answer that indicates an outside influence is why you have to get up in the morning.

While going to work or feeding your children are important things, I’m asking you to think a lot deeper on this question. Think of it this way; what is it you can’t wait to get up for? You’re excited to get up for? Your jazzed to do?

I do a lot of coaching and a lot of teaching/working with groups in my life. It is clear to me, that so many people are busy making a living, they are forgetting about life. They are sweeping under the rug or ignoring altogether, what is tugging at them inside.

Ben Franklin is said to have asked himself in the morning “What good shall I do today?” and in the evening “What good have I done today?” This indicates purpose. The purpose of doing good and making an impact. Given all of Franklin’s accomplishments, we know that while he was centered on making a difference (a big form of giving) he wasn’t merely altruistic. He was working on major projects that served others and also made him enormously successful.

We all need a sense of purpose, and one that is way beyond what it means to ourselves. The good news is that we all have the capability to make a difference. We have all been uniquely bestowed with our own special way to touch the world. When I work with someone who is willing and desiring and ready to commit to growing, we explore the things they have been blessed with to help them achieve a quality of life they never considered before, because it is about so much more than just money and things (although these come naturally when we are in the right place and acting with purpose). My mission, at least for now, is to impact a million people. It gets me up in the morning. It stimulates my creativity. It blesses me daily through the feedback of people who are doing better. Its a challenge…a big one. And I’m not really sure how it will happen, but each day I work at bringing it into existence. It’s a major objective. We all need this. Find yours and get to work on it…..getting out of bed will have never been easier!

“Major objectives are the unseen force that pulls us into the future. Through our daily activity and discipline we provide the push to propel us toward success. But it is the dream of the future achievement of our objectives that pulls us along day after day and pulls us through the major obstacles we encounter along the way.”-Jim Rohn
