There is No Such Thing as Success Without Obstacles.
They are absolutely linked together. Always have been and always will be. People who achieve great things don’t do so because the road is clear, they do so because they encounter and deal with every single obstacle that appears in the road. And one thing you can always be sure of is that the bigger the goal the bigger and more abundant the obstacles will be.
Obstacles come in all shapes and sizes and it’s simply not possible to know what all of yours will be as you build your business. However, I do know what five of them will be, because they are common to everyone. In the Blueprint Process Training I explore all five pretty deeply. For today’s article I will be just touching on three of them.
I Struggled Mightily With These 3 When I First Started and Yet…
Working through them took me from an everyday guy (well the fact is I am still an everyday guy!!!) with no money, no sales skills, and an introvert, to millions in life time earnings in the network marketing industry. That’s the beautifully wonderful thing about obstacles. They make you better! I know we don’t think about it this way when we are younger and less experienced, and we certainly don’t like having the obstacles, regardless of age or experience, but they are blessings. They force us to do what we have to do to grow to be the person we need to grow to be for the accomplishments of the purpose we are pursuing.
The Most Common Obstacle is Fear
Fear comes in many varieties. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of criticism, fear of loss of relationship/approval, and others that are unique to each individual. A general definition of fear is an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. The operative words here are emotion and belief. Both of these things are changeable. If you really think about the fear associated with taking the steps to build your business you would see logically that it’s not real. Are you in danger? Not likely. Are you being threatened? Again, not likely. Pain? Well this one is more subjective and very related to life experience.
Someone who’s life has been checkered with challenges and struggles and loss, has an entirely different perspective on what is painful and what is not than someone who had little hardship. Either way though, fear is manageable and changeable. There are two very simple things you can do. The first is to put a smile on your face. A consistent smile in the face of those who criticize or express doubt is the fastest way to have them leave you alone about it! More importantly, a smile sends a signal to your brain that things are good. This helps you to move forward and do the second thing which is absolutely not optional: TAKE ACTION. Nothing eliminates fear faster than action. I talk about this more in depth on the video.
Distractions and Self-Doubt are a Close Second
These two obstacles are equally prevalent in that most people struggle with them. I provide multiple perspectives on the video, so for now I will just give one solution for each. For the issue of distractions, the first thing you have to do is take the time to clarify your priorities. Once you have done this it becomes easier for you to stay focused because you can more readily ignore the things that don’t fit your priorities but would take your time. You can also communicate this to the people around you which will help them to better support you, and have them be considerate of distracting you. As I mentioned more on this in the video.
Self-belief issues are very hard. I literally had to go to battle daily against this and I still do today. So many people struggle with the idea that they are worthy of success and a good life. It’s practically an epidemic. If this wasn’t the truth, many more people would be doing better in life. Daily time in personal development is the number one thing to do. Even if it’s just 15 minutes of reading per day. It’s sort of like taking care of yourself physically, it’s really not optional for a successful life. I go deeper on this one in the video too.
There is so much more I could write here but it would just be too long so make sure to check out the video for the rest of the insights to these obstacles.
