It’s Been Said That “A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste.”
Yet, without the right mindset, essentially this is what happens. Think about it for a second…
You constantly have ideas for your life and your business. Yet how often do you act on those ideas? And if you do act on them, how quickly do you give up on them?
Let’s go a step further….what do you SAY to yourself about your ideas?
If you have a history of not acting on your ideas, giving up on yourself quickly, and/or talking bad to yourself about your possibilities in life, then you are being held back by a bad mindset.
This Will Only Change With Purposeful Effort
I would know. I have struggled with low self-esteem, poor self-image, and negative thinking my entire life. It stopped me cold as a younger man, and has been a constant impediment even through the years of progress and various achievements. But it hasn’t kept me from living an awesome life and from accomplishing things and acting on my ideas.
Because I recognized it, through the help of others, and acted in the face of it, in addition to working to combat it EVERY DAY.
This is the key piece…you have to work at changing it daily. And just like getting in shape physically, it will be an ongoing process. Here are a few simple things you can do right now to get started on your way to overcoming this issue.
The first thing is to recognize that YOU are WORTH working on. That’s right. You are valuable. You are unique. After all, no one else on earth is exactly like you. Which makes you rare. Aren’t things that are rare valuable? You are here to make the contribution to the world that only you can make. The only way you are going to do that is by working on yourself to develop yourself, and that starts with your mindset.
The second thing is to plan 15 minutes per day to work on developing yourself. You can do more, and I personally do, but start with at least 15 minutes, and then do more if you want.
The third thing is to read positive, developmental, inspiring books/articles in that 15 minutes. You need to put good in to your mind to overcome the bad that the world throws at you.
The fourth thing is to STOP reading, listening to, and watching all the negative garbage the media puts out. They are polluting your mind which doesn’t just affect you, but also affects everyone you love because YOU affect them.
The fifth thing is to flip your self-talk. Whenever, and I mean every time, you begin to say something negative about yourself or to yourself, STOP, and change the statement to something positive instead.
The sixth thing is to DO something towards your idea, or your goal, or in your business, daily. It doesn’t have to be a massive amount, it just needs to be a start that you can build on.
These are pretty simple and easy to do…they are also easy to not do and continue on down the negative mindset road until the day you would look back in the future furious at your past self for not doing what you could absolutely do!
