We All Live the Results of Our Habits and Choices…
Yes, things do happen to us that we don’t choose. That’s called “life happening.”
In the big picture though, most of how any aspect of your life is going is directly related to choices and habits…and not today’s choices and habits….those of your yesterdays.
There was a time in my life when I had problems virtually everywhere that mattered. Physically, financially, relationally…
What was the common denominator in those problems? ME!
Do you think that is what I was thinking then? The truth is I didn’t have time to consider that I was the problem. I was too busy. Too busy blaming everyone else, and too busy making excuses, and too busy whining, and too busy self-medicating to avoid dealing with my life.
This went on for years. Here’s the thing…if everyone has a problem with you….YOU are the problem. The same principle applies to each of us individually…if we are having a problem in multiple aspects of our life…then the problem is completely us…we are the issue that is showing up in all of our results.
There is a Single Moment That Changes Everything…
If you’re at all dissatisfied with the state of your health, relationships, or finances, all you have to do is sit back and consider how you have been living over the past five years and you will see how you got here. I know this isn’t easy, and it may feel like I am punching you a little, but I’m not pointing a finger at you, as you can tell by my history, I’m a voice of experience.
The single moment that changes everything is the moment we take responsibility. This is when we take ownership for what happens to us and for us.
You might come to this faster than I did. I spent a lot of years avoiding having to see myself clearly in the mirror. But once, I did, there was no denying it. It was no one else’s fault. Not my Mother’s, coaches, teacher’s, bosses, the government….mine. My choices, my habits, my results.
Here’s a Simple Plan For You…
- Take a few moments and assess what areas of your life you are struggling with.
- Look at the daily habits that impact this area.
- Pick a habit in each area that needs to change.
- Choose a new habit that will improve things (the best way to get rid of a bad habit is to replace it).
- Start Today.
- Be patient because it’s going to take time to replace the bad habit, and it’s going to take a while to see a significant result.
This will not be easy, but then again, neither is endless struggle in the same areas of life. If you are going to have a struggle then pick one that leads to a positive result. Do not get caught by the voices around you that promise you an easy way to fix things fast, they are lies, and deep down you know that anyway.
In the video I share a personal story from when I was much younger that exemplifies some of what I am talking about.
You can have a rich life that is abundant with many good things in all the parts of your life that matter to you most…once you take responsibility for making it happen, and go to work on your choices and your habits. My purpose is to help you have a rich life, and I can guarantee you this is a key thing for that to happen.
