What….You Never Thought About This?

Well, I have to say…this is worth considering!

I have to give creative credit for this idea to the late Jim Rohn (who I was fortunate to have dinner with on a few occasions) who said:

“A tree does not grow to half it’s potential size and then say, “I guess that will do.” A tree will drive it’s roots as deep as possible. It will soak up as much nourishment as it can, stretch as high and as wide as nature will allow, and then look down as if to remind us of how much each of us could become if we would only do all that we can.”

I have in the past, asked large audiences (who had no idea where I was going with this) to raise there hand if they think they are smarter than a tree!

It’s pretty funny from the front of a room to watch people trying to figure out if they should raise there hand or not:-) I’m not qualified to discuss the true level of intelligence of a tree, but I can say, that if human beings would take on the positive aspects of a tree, THEY would have a better life, and the WORLD would be a better place.

This is the central point of the “3 Circles Living” platform. Anyone who implements the platform will absolutely improve there life relatively quickly, and if they really work diligently at it, they will have an awesome improvement over time. Every company would be much more successful if their employees were living their life according to the 3 Circles and learning the underlying competencies.

Anyway, back to the trees.

Here are some things to consider:

Trees adapt to circumstances and continue to grow. Ever seen one growing sideways out of a hill or mountain? How about you, do you do this?

Trees are stuck in one location. But they don’t actually stay stuck in their impact. They drop their seeds and spread themselves to broaden their impact. Two quick lessons here. The obvious one, is that trees can’t simply uproot and move to a new location. They are stuck singularly. YOU are not. If you don’t like where you are in any area of your life, you are choosing to stay stuck if you don’t take action to change. The other lesson here is that a tree will do the most it can in the place it is. Wherever you are in your life and your work, make the best of it and give your best to it.

Trees stand strong in storms. They bend, but rarely do they break. That needs to be your approach. Storms are always going to come in life, stand strong and take it. Let it make you better, and with each storm the effect will be less.

Trees make a contribution to the betterment of the world. They provide oxygen and reduce carbon dioxide. They also provide nourishment to theri fellow trees and emit fragrances and chemicals that help human beings (proven that it can reduce stress and help blood pressure). They do this because they are on the planet for a purpose. YOU are here for a purpose. YOU are here to make a contribution.

They Grow up on a solid foundation. They drive their roots down to support themselves. This is why it’s important to take care of your health, your relationships, learn skills, and be proactive in your heart pursuits. These are the foundation/roots of a good life.

They emit chemicals that attract enemies of their enemies. This is pretty cool. If a certain bug is deadly to them, they simply attract whatever eats that bug! Treat people right, invest in them, and you will build a community of people in your life that will repel people with the wrong intent.

That’s a lot to consider. Trees are pretty cool. And so are YOU. Invest in yourself (get the book if you haven’t already) and grow as tall as you can to make the difference only you can make! Here is a video of a talk I did on the 3 Circles in front of 2000 people in Germany a few years back. It’s a brush across the top. Enjoy!
