It All Starts with Simply Showing Up…
I read a statement in Ryan Holiday’s book Discipline is Destiny this morning that said simply “Consistency is a superpower.”
This statement didn’t move my needle as I merely nodded to myself.
You see, as I look around me, I can only agree. This is one of the superpowers that is available to all. All you have to do to test this statement is look at the areas of your life that are going well versus the ones that aren’t.
Where you show up on a consistent basis, things generally go well, and where you don’t, they don’t.
Not rocket science.
I Only Ever Teach and Mentor Based on What I Have Proven Through Experience.
This applies to all aspects of the 3 Circles and the deeper pieces of it.
And all of the amazing fruit of living this way start with the discipline of showing up.
I’m just a regular guy, who is immensely grateful for the extraordinary life I have. It happened not through talent, or through brains. It didn’t happen overnight. And it began from very little and in my case, relatively late (It wasn’t until I was in my early 30s that I stopped whining and started taking consistent actions of value).
The first place you have to show up is taking care of your body and mind.
Then you have to show up in improving your skills with people and time.
Then you have to show up with/for the people that you love, your friendships, in the community, and in your work.
Then you show up in your work.
Then you show up for your heart pursuits, side projects, and ultimately your purpose driven efforts.
You show up regardless of how you feel or how busy you are.
You can accomplish just about anything you set out to do, by being disciplined to take the little steps and adding a helping a patience in the necessary amount.
6 Days a week…
I exercise, read, invest in the people that matter, work on my “opus” project, and serve and help others as much as I can.
Many days, I don’t show up at my best. But I show up anyway. I take the steps. Always. Whether I feel like doing it or not.
I make no excuses. I make choices. Choices to do. Consistently. And let the results take care of themselves over time.
And you can too.
If something in your life is not what you want it to be, you have to start showing up consistently in that area. The more you show up the better you’ll get, the more you’ll figure out, and the better the thing will get.
It’s this simple.
You can live exactly the life you want in time. All you have to do is decide what you want it to look like, and then start consistently taking the steps.
6 days a week, this is exactly what I help people with.
